Gov. Joseph Hiester Chapter - Pennsylvania Society - Sons of the American Revolution

To my fellow Compatriots of the gov. Joseph Hiester Chapter, Sons

of the American Revolution...

"It has been my Sincere and Distinct Honor, Privilege and Pleasure to

have served you as President, for the past 2 years.  On

December 4, 2014, this Chapter, that is you, elected me President.

You put your faith and trust in me and I hope I have not let you down.

Thank You again for that trust.

was and still am very humbled for that honor."

Greetings to all my fellow Compatriots,

I hope this letter finds everyone well, enjoying the summer weather,

having lots of fun and getting to revitalize past relationships.

The reason for this letter is simple and the simple fact is, our Gov.

Joseph Hiester Chapter is in dire need of volunteers to fill some very

necessary positions, both elected and appointed, for the next year and

hopefully beyond.  These positions are President, Vice President and

Newsletter Editor.

Normally, we would be looking for someone to fill the Vice President position for the next two years (2017 and 2018) and then he would move up to the President's position.  This year, however, due to personal reasons our current Vice President, Charles Seibert, has decided NOT to run for President.  Consequently, we must fill next year's (2017) President position also.

Additionally we also need need a Newsletter Editor.  Someone with a little knowledge of a computer with a program like or similar to Microsoft Publisher.  He would make up the quarterly newsletter, the Hiester Herald, that goes out to the members, both printed and electronic copies.

If you look at our list of Officers, Committee Chairs and Color Guard please note that with the exception of 2 members everyone is 65 or above and one is 91.  It does get a little 'sticky' when you are in parades or standing at functions in uniforms when your up in the years.

We do need help with volunteers, or all the progress we have made in the last 5 to 10 years, is going to go away.  please help by volunteering with your own expertise in helping to build the Gov. Joseph Hiester Chapter and help take it from where we are today, up to a higher level tomorrow.

So, now you are aware of the problems that the Gov. Joseph Hiester Chapter is facing in the not too distant future.  You know that positions are open and basically what those position's duties entail.  The current people in place will help you anyway they can in training you and getting you up to running speed and assist you where they can. In other words, we will still be available and not let you out there by yourself.  My plan is for someone to call you and ask you for help.

The next Quarterly Meeting being held on September 15, 2016, at the Heidelberg Country Club, I will be appointing a Nominating Committee, who will actively seek out prospects for these positions.  Why not make their job easy and volunteer for one of the positions.  You can also get in touch with me, Leon Adam at ( (717) 933-9308 or Barry Kauffman ( (610) 926-2664 now and volunteer your services.  We can answer any questions you have about these offices.

It all sounds like an impossible task for someone but just kindly remember that when the current people in charge saw there was a need to volunteer, well... you know what we did, we volunteered.  It is now up to you to step up and volunteer to help steer the Gov. Joseph Hiester Chapter into the future.
